Mom Goes On European Vacation – Leaves Behind Most Important Thing Of All

What parent could do something like this?

Johnston, Iowa – Erin Lee Macke, 30, is in some major trouble with the law after leaving her four minor children unattended while she left the country on a European vacation.

Yes, I am serious.

On Tuesday, September 19, The children, two aged 12, one aged 7 and another that was aged 6, were apparently left at home alone after her plans to obtain a sitter fell through. Thankfully one of the father’s had a watchful eye and within 24 hours the police were notified, which prompted a visit from both them and Department of Human Services.

According to KCCI, when questioned, the children told police officers that their mother had left them and the country.

After police made contact with her on Thursday,September 21, Macke told them that she planned to be in Germany until Sunday, October 1. Surprisingly they were able to convince her to return early. After arriving back in the United States on Wednesday, the 27, she was arrested on Thursday morning.

Police Lt. Tyler Tompkins stated:

“I’ve never heard of anything like this before,” Tompkins said. “We have situations where parents go next door or parents may go out for the night, and while that’s not advisable either depending on the age of the children, obviously leaving the country is a totally different situation. This, where a parent has left the country and left the kids home alone, I’ve never heard of it before.”

Currently the two 12 year old children are stayed with family members and the two younger siblings are with their father.

One can only imagine how horrifying it must have been for those children.  One can only pray that the children are in a much safer place now and that this mother will face some serious consequences for her actions.

What do you think should happen to this mother?
